“All dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
Walt Disney, 82 years old.

Looking back, I’ve always been a storyteller. Yet, if anyone had told me ten years ago that I would be winning awards for my work, I wouldn’t have believed them. The path ahead of me was always going to be a long one, involving learning the basic skills of writing stories, to making the all – important mistakes along the way and immersing myself in the fascinating world of wildlife conservation. It has certainly taken courage, patience and a lot of hard work.

The Golden Wizard Book Prize is renowned as the top book awards programme globally. Recognising the importance of storytelling which seeks to captivate and ignite young minds to exciting, extraordinary realms. Therefore, I could not have been more delighted when the first three books of my series ‘The Last Year of The Wild’ won the status of being ‘Honouree award-winners’ in 2023 and 2024 of ‘The Golden Wizard Book Prize’. Yet, I distinctly remember the sheer emotional thill of winning ‘The Book of the Year Award 2023 for the 8 – 12 category’. It made not only the years of working long hours, worth the effort. It also enabled my stories to begin to reach wider audiences who may also enjoy the animal characters and environmental premise of this story of hope for the future of our natural world.
